Dr. Zeng's article "Soft cutting tool controller" published in WJTA Journal

"Soft cutting tool controller" is the first article in a series of "Waterjet cutting in the era of intelligent manufacturing" written by Dr. Zeng Jiyue of Lionstek. It was published in the journal "Jet News" of WJTA (Water Jet Technology Association) in February 2020. WJTA is the most influential trade association in the water jet industry worldwide, with members all over the world.

Dr. Zeng pointed out in the paper that intelligent manufacturing will have more and more influence on the competitiveness of manufacturing industry. Water jet, as a soft cutting tool, can't achieve the goal of precise machining by using traditional numerical control system. Now, the waterjet industry has a waterjet cutting machine tool (called "Smart waterjet cutting machine") which uses "Soft cutting tool controller". This waterjet cutting machine uses mathematical model and intelligent algorithms. Taking the cutting point of the jet at the bottom of the workpiece as the control target, it can control the cutting speed, control and compensate taper as well as other geometrical errors caused by the deformation of the cutting tool in the process of cutting, and machine the precise parts in cold state without damage.

In addition, Dr. Zeng described another great advantage of the " soft cutting tool controller " of the smart waterjet cutting machine, that is, in addition to providing higher cutting efficiency and quality, it will make programming very easy, which is really time-saving, worry-saving, labor-saving and money saving.
