The comparative advantage of water knife and laser

Thicker material than laser cutting (laser is not suitable for cutting material more than 25mm thick, water knife can cut thickness more than 200mm).

Laser can cut limited materials, abrasive knife can cut any material.

Laser cutting will produce thermal damage and microcrack, water knife will not.

Laser cutting will emit toxic gas, abrasive knife produced waste water waste sand can be recycled, can also be harmless emissions.

Lasers are more expensive to repair than abrasives (optical mirrors can be damaged by splashes of liquid metal).

Abrasive water knife equipment costs only 1/3 to 1/2 of the laser.
