Dr. Zeng's article "Straight surface processing programming software" published in WJTA Journal

"Straight surface processing programming software" is the second article in the series of "water Jet cutting in the era of intelligent manufacturing" edited by Dr. Zeng jiyue of shimei technology, which was published in WJTA journal "Jet News" in May, 2020.

Dr. Zeng pointed out in the paper that water jet as a flexible tool, the use of traditional numerical control system can not achieve the goal of accurate machining, but the water jet itself is not a linear tool, so it is necessary to eliminate the error caused by cutting through software programming. In this paper, Dr. Zeng introduced a set of 3d CAM software for straight-grain surface cutting. This software is different from the existing 3d CAM in the market. It can automatically generate the non-straight-grain machining surface and automatically plan and optimize the whole cutting path, program the cutting data into the final 5-axis CNC machining program, conduct simulation preview and collision detection, and adjust the position, Angle and even machining speed of the linear cutter on the machining track in batches. It not only avoids all kinds of errors in the process of water jet cutting, but also provides more functional features with practical significance. So that the machine tool accurately processed out of a variety of precision parts.

 Moreover, Dr Tsang says there is still plenty of room for the development of the 3d CAM software, which was developed for water-jet cutting but can be used for other linear cutting tools, such as lasers, plasma arcs and wire cutters.
